What we do

Biodiversity net gain units

Swift BNG sells biodiversity net gain units across England, from a network of habitat banks we are building site by site. Banks that deliver change for nature, and value for our buyers.

Biodiversity net gain has been mandatory in England since February 2024. Most development coming under the Town and Country Planning Act has to demonstrate at least a 10% measurable gain in biodiversity, secured and managed for 30 years. Where that gain cannot be delivered on the development site, it can be bought as off-site units. That is the part we handle.

  • Quoted in full, up front

    One written quote showing unit types and quantities, the spatial risk multiplier and the price per unit. Everything you will be asked to pay is in it, and the quote is fixed for at least 3 months.

  • Allocated, and then done

    Once off-site units are allocated, your biodiversity net gain obligation is discharged. The 30-year duty to manage, monitor and report sits with the habitat bank.

    Send us your metric

    Email your completed statutory biodiversity metric, or just the site location and a red-line plan if you are earlier than that.

    A written quote showing unit types and quantities, the spatial multiplier applied and the price per unit, with the workings set out.

  3. Waypoint 03

    Reserve while you wait for planning

    Hold specific units under a reservation agreement so they are not sold whilst your application sits with the authority.

    We allocate

    We handle the agreement and the coordination between every party, then your units are allocated on the national biodiversity gain sites register. Paperwork done, condition discharged.
